They're back! Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt make their return to the spotlight in British reality show Celebrity Big Brother

They've slipped off the radar over the past few years, but Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt are determined to get their careers back on track.
And so the couple took a leap of faith and entered Britain's Celebrity Big Brother house on Thursday - and it wasn't long before they started causing trouble.
The celebrity version of the UK reality show follows the same premise over a shorter time-span - placing a group of stars in one house and shuts them off from the outside world, keeping them busy with challenges and secret tasks.

Over the course of 23 days contestants will be voted out by the public after they are nominated by their fellow contestants, until one remains and is crowned as the winner.

Compared to many of their new housemates, the former stars of The Hills didn't get too dressed up to make their grand entrance.
Heidi, 26, wore a very low-cut printed dress which showed off her surgically-enhanced cleavage as well as her slim legs, and added some glitz in the form of glittering gold pumps.

Meanwhile Spencer, whose Twitter account was bizarrely still very much active after he entered the house, kept things very casual in an all-camouflage outfit and trainers.

But it was a good thing he did, because the reality star duo didn't step into the lap of luxury as they entered the house, but instead into the dingy basement.
In a cruel twist, housemates Rylan Clark and Frankie Dettori were forced to decide which of the contestants would live in the main house and who would live in the reality squalor of the basement for the next few days.

And with Heidi and Spencer last to enter the house, Frankie and Rylan had to decide whether they would make the ultimate sacrifice and go and live downstairs themselves or confine the MTV reality stars to the basic rations and dirty surroundings of the bleak basement.
After the couple arrived on stage to greet Celebrity Big Brother host Brian Dowling, Spencer admitted he was already struggling with the concept of living in a house with other people.
He said: 'We've heard lots of names and seen lots of photos, some of them will be horrifying. It's going to be hard because I really don't like other people. I'm ready to get in there, I'm ready to do battle. It's on.
'We definitely want to win. My game plan is to make everyone just want to quit and leave.'

But he was even less impressed after X Factor star Rylan condemned the married couple to spending the next few days in the basement.
Rylan reasoned: 'They come from LA and have all the sunshine. I come from Essex, it's mostly rain. I think we should stay.'
To which an angry Spencer responded: 'I'm down with going to the basement, it means I don't have to be with them.'
But Rylan seemed to have taken offence to the outspoken reality star's comments, later telling the housemates: 'She [Heidi] seems half decent. She's had a lot of work done, but good luck to her.

'He said he'd seen us all and thought we looked like a bunch of weirdos so I was like, "Straight to the basement".'
And while her husband may not have taken too kindly to Rylan, Heidi seemed keen to meet him.
Prior to entering the basement, she told Brian: 'It's an honour to be here, we're so excited to meet all the other housemates. I've heard Rylan is a really big pop star.'
When they come face to face later in the show, Spencer, 29, is likely to get Rylan's back up even further with his big-headed comments.

In his Big Brother VT, Rylan said: 'The thing that makes me the most angry is people who think they're the b******s.'
And Spencer remarked in his interview: 'At one time, I definitely felt like we were the most famous people in the world. I love myself, what can I say?'
Spencer and Heidi joined Paula Hamilton, Ryan Maloney, Sam Robertson and Neil 'Razor' Ruddock in the basement.

Meanwhile, Rylan and Frankie are accompanied by Tricia Penrose, Gillian Taylforth, Lacey Banghard and Claire Richards in the main house.
The housemates living in the basement will be forced to put up with not only limited rations, but sleeping on dirty mattresses and seeing their fellow contestants living a life of luxury in the main house, which comes complete with a hot tub and swimming pool.
Brian Dowling said: 'This year, the Big Brother house is frostier than ever.

'We have entered the winter of discontent and Big Brother has decided it's time the celebrities earned their keep. There's basic rations and no hot or cold running water.'
A source added to the Daily Star newspaper: 'To make matters worse, bosses have placed a plasma screen on the basement dwellers' wall so they can see glimpses of the other team.
'This is so they can see the other team enjoying the luxuries of the 'Big Brother' house and hear them gloating about pigging out on fine wines and food.'
